Cfp: Graduate Students Workshop on Migration
Bilkent Historical Society is pleased to announce its call for papers for the Migration
Workshop to be held on April 26-27, 2012 at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. The
organizing committee is seeking graduate students from social sciences and humanities to
submit proposals on any related topic to migration. This is an excellent opportunity for young
scholars to present their research and gain insightful comments on their work.
We hope the conference will prompt discussion of diverse topics related to migration in
American, European and Ottoman History. Some of the subjects scholars are encouraged to
submit proposals on are, but not limited to:
assimilation
integration
(anti)racism
ethnic &national identities
causes of emigration
modes of settlement
fundamentalism & terror
immigration restriction
cultural exchange
transnationalism
Submissions for papers are welcome from graduate students at all levels. Please send a 300
word abstract and a one page CV to bilkenthistoricalsociety@gmail.com by March 1, 2012.
There is no registration fee. Travel and accommodation grants may be available for selected
participants.
